Hello! I’m Sophie Turner, a strategic marketing and communications consultant. I have over a decade of sector experience, and a passion for helping purpose-driven organisations build authentic, realistic and effective marketing.
I’m joined by Bagel, a rescue cat with over 5 years of experience screaming on video calls and generally getting in the way.
Together we’re here to solve your marketing and communications conundrums, lay creative and strategic marketing foundations for your organisation, and stare longingly out of the window at pigeons.

What can I do for you?
You can think of me as a temporary Head of Marketing for your organisation - senior support and expertise without the long-term commitment. I can take a fresh look at your marketing, help you understand what is and isn’t working, and map out how to get where you want to be. That could be a quick fix, longer-term support, or something in between.
After many years of senior management roles in the charity sector, I’m all about making a big impact with limited resources. I know what it’s like to have a tight budget, a to-do list a mile long, and no time to waste on overcomplicated solutions. So I’m here to provide the honesty, support and good humour you need to get on top of your marketing in a way that feels authentic, practical and values-driven.

I offer a variety of services, all tailored to your specific requirements.
I’m based in Nottingham, so if you’re local I’m happy to meet you at your business or over a coffee. But I do most of my work remotely, so I can work with clients all over the UK and beyond.

About me
I have over a decade of experience across the marketing spectrum, racked up through many years of in-house and freelance roles. I’ve held Head of Marketing and Communications positions in the charity and education sectors for over six years, and have provided fixed-term consultancy for a range of different purpose-driven organisations.
I’ve built marketing strategies that have produced record-breaking results, as well as running a campaign that was shortlisted for a Marketing Award for Effective Brand Communication. But I’ve also done lots of stealthier work in the background too, untangling organisations’ marketing problems, improving processes, and upskilling people to run their own marketing effectively and self-sufficiently.
My priority is helping you understand where your marketing needs to go and how to get there - without feeling like you’re selling out along the way. My approach is human-centred, values-driven and rooted in practicality. I’m here to listen to your real challenges and concerns and help you develop creative and impactful solutions.
About him
Bagel is an orange rescue cat who joined my family in 2020. His previous owners decided that they didn’t want him any more, and left him to fend for himself on the streets. I adopted him from a rescue centre and he’s been my best friend ever since. Despite being treated so badly in his early years he’s an incredibly loving cat - to me, anyway. He’s pretty rude to everyone else.
Bagel makes an appearance on most of my work calls - if you don’t see him you’ll probably hear him. He thinks he’s my business partner anyway, so I thought I’d make it official through Turner & Bagel. He takes his payment in Dreamies.
