Turner & Bagel ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what your rights are under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact me at sophie@turnerandbagel.com.

Who we are

Turner & Bagel is a sole trader business operated by Sophie Turner. For data protection purposes, Sophie Turner is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

What information we collect

We collect personal information in the following ways:

  • When you make a purchase. If you buy something from our shop, we collect information needed to process your order and take payment, such as your name, email address, billing and delivery address, and order details. Payment itself is processed securely by our payment provider through our website platform, Squarespace; we do not store your full card details ourselves.

  • When you sign up to a newsletter. We run more than one newsletter. Depending on which you sign up to, your name and email address are collected and stored either in MailerLite or in Mailchimp, the email marketing platforms we use to send our newsletters.

  • When you browse our website. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website, such as which pages are visited and how long people stay. This is gathered through cookies and similar technologies. Where required, we ask for your consent to non-essential cookies via a cookie banner before Google Analytics runs.

Why we use your information and our lawful basis

  • We collect order and delivery details to fulfil your purchase, process payment, and handle any returns or customer service queries. (Lawful basis: Performance of a contract)

  • We collect your newsletter sign-up details to send you the newsletter(s) you've subscribed to. (Lawful basis: Consent)

  • We collect website usage data to understand how our website is used and to improve it. (Lawful basis: Consent)

You can withdraw your consent to receive newsletters at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email, or to cookies via your browser or cookie banner settings.

Who we share your information with

We share personal information with the following third parties, who process it on our behalf:

  • Squarespace – our website and shop platform, which also handles payment processing for orders

  • MailerLite – email newsletter platform

  • Mailchimp – email newsletter platform

  • Google Analytics – website analytics

These providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, they provide appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, as part of their own compliance with UK/EU data protection law. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

How long we keep your information

  • Order and customer records are kept for as long as needed to meet our legal and tax obligations (typically up to 6 years).

  • Newsletter subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

  • Website analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you

  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information

  • Ask us to delete your information

  • Ask us to restrict or object to how we use your information

  • Ask for your information to be transferred elsewhere (data portability)

  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at sophie@turnerandbagel.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies, including those set by Google Analytics, to help it function and to understand how it's used. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and where required by law we will ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are set.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
